I write in many genres: journalism, memoir, short and long fiction. I am also trained as a folklorist and I conduct long-form research in this vein. Currently I'm researching Venus flytrap harvesting traditions in southeastern North Carolina for my forthcoming book, Flytrapper: A Carnivorous Plant, A Poaching War, and the People Caught in the Middle.
