Welcome to Supercharge Your Creativity! I'm so happy you're here!!

You have *not* just purchased an online course - you've enrolled in a writing program with mentoring support, from a working writer who believes in you, is invested in your writing, and will be at other end of the emails you send, eager to hear how this process is going for you.

So, let's get to it. We need 3 things in order to be reliably creative: space, time, and commitment. Let's take them one by one.

Space: you wouldn't think it would be that important. We can just write on our phones, right? But there's something about having a cleared-off surface in front of us that makes a big difference in channeling that creative vibe. Maybe it's that, if every space around us is already occupied, we sense there's not room to draw more things out of ourselves and into the open. This might be true mentally, and it might be true physically. Either way, start thinking about how giving yourself space can make a huge difference in your creative practice.

Time: the hard truth is that creativity requires time. It doesn't have to be hours at a time. But you have to have a willingness to wrestle with ideas that might not turn into that award-winning story. I find that the best way to consistently give myself time is to find ways to make the process fun. We can always make time for the funnest part of our day, right? I recommend getting totally and completely HOOKED on creativity, so that you can't wait until it's 9 pm and you've finished everything else you have to do so you can dive into this course. You can do it!

Commitment. This can sound like a bad word sometimes - or like, not how we talk about the things we love doing. But I don't mean commitment to this course, or commitment to any one creative project in particular. I just mean commitment to yourself: to your inherent creativity. Commitment to keep coming back and listening to your own mind, over and over, because you have gorgeous and significant things to say.

I totally believe this is true, and if you bought this course, or someone bought it for you, then there are at least two people who believe it. So let's dive in!

Here's what I need you to bring to this workshop:

  1. A notebook you absolutely cannot wait to crack open.

  2. A thirst-quenching drink within arm's reach.

  3. A promise to yourself to see it through!

Here's what I will bring:

  1. Six bright, chaotic, inspiring & exciting workshop videos to guide you through your writing each week! Obviously, I'm a writer, and I like to write... but I LOVE to actually get to talk you through the writing process. Commit to the 10-15 minutes that each video takes--the writing you get out of each video will make the process MORE than worth it.

  2. ALL THE PROMPTS. (And when I say all the prompts, I don't mean: "Write about a time when you felt embarrassed...") I mean the absolute best of the wild kaleidoscope bundle of creative tricks and schemes I've developed over the past 15 years of teaching... all to shower you with over the next 6 sessions so you can absolutely bask in the juiciness of your own creativity.

  3. A multitude of creative templates from the exercises we do together, so you can take them back into your life and use them again and again.

  4. My most attentive, proud, and encouraging writerly wisdom on the other side of our email exchanges... reading your work, cheering you on, suggesting possible directions for your creativity, and most of all, delighting in the experience of working with you. I can't wait!
